The Summer of WINNING!

Whoa, I can’t believe it’s almost October! The summer flew by! It was a fantastic summer, however, mostly full of win.

When I say “full of win”, I literally mean winning. My LYS, Natural Stitches, had another round of Summer Bingo this year, and playing paid off big time for me!

Let’s see: I won a straight bingo, which got me a $5 gift card, and then I won a “special bingo” (where you make a particular pattern on  your board), which got me a $10 gift card.

Then, my name was entered in a couple of drawings throughout the summer. The drawings were either just for playing, or for being the first win of a month (for me, it was July’s first bingo).  I won multiple skeins of yarn over the summer:

Madeline Tosh Pashmina Worsted
Done Roving Yarns Gussied Up

Spud & Chloe Fine

Finally, I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot, because Natural Stitches is now a carrier of Blue Moon Fiber Arts Yarn! YAY!!! This is my favorite yarn in the world, particularly their Socks That Rock in lightweight and mediumweight. I may have just gone a little crazy using up my gift cards on more yarn. 🙂

As to knitting projects: I cast on 2 shawls over the summer. Both were knit-a-longs, one for Star Athena’s Interval, and one for Kirsten Kapur’s Germinate.  Germinate is almost done, though I screwed up just about every single phase of the thing, which is not the designer’s fault, I might add. Totally user error on that one.  I’ve decided to table it til next spring, when I’ll actually want to wear its colors (bright green, bright pink, and white!)  Interval would be good for fall and winter, however, so I hope to finish that one soon.

I also cast on my annual fall pair of socks. I’m using Socks That Rock lightweight in Ghoulash.  Here’s my project page for them.

And that’s it for summer updates. It was a great summer, and now I look forward to crisp cool air, falling leaves, Halloween, spooky things, pumpkin EVERYTHING, and lots and lots of wool.  Happy Autumn!
